Manchester City Centre TourismManchester is one of the UK's biggest cities and with its recent extraordinary growth is now the north of England's most popular city destination. Tourists are flocking to Manchester and this extra cash has helped lead to a massive expansion in city centre shops, entertainment and accommodation - mostly in the form of very impressive and award winning design.
Although some parts of the city are shiny and new, there are areas that have been preserved for their historic nature and charm. For instance, when the Triangle shopping centre was built at Hangman's Ditch in the Millennium Quarter, two of Manchester's oldest pubs were moved and restored. They now sit between some of the city's most eye-catching buildings and just across the road from the new and equally impressive Arndale development. The city has a very 'young' feel to it, possibly because of the trend-setting nature of Manchester. Many fashion designers set-up-shop in Manchester and most bars, pubs and clubs are all competing for the same crowd. This means that groundbreaking music and fashion are just as likely to come out of Manchester, as they are London. Manchester is city-living at its best - not too big and not too small. On the weekend, there are always things going on in the city centre from small local and international markets, fairs and festivals, carnivals and street parties. Plenty to keep you occupied, great shopping and a fantastic night out all make Manchester a must for every itinerary. Useful
