Wrexham Industrial Estate

Wrexham Industrial Estate is situated four miles from the town centre of Wrexham, north Wales. It was established under the Distribution of Industry Act in 1945. It is important to note, the area was originally developed during the Second World War not only because of its distance from European bombers but also because of its transport system and population numbers. After the second World War, The Ordnance Factory site which comprised 1330 acres was designated for the creation of a trading estate as it was a self contained unit with railway sidings, well built roads and its own water supply. It was named the Wrexham Trading Estate and was managed by the Wales and Monmouthshire Estate Co. Ltd.

The estate now covers approximately 550 hectares, which makes it geographically, one of the largest industrial estates of its type in Europe and the biggest in north Wales. It accommodates nearly 300 companies, which employ approximately 7,000 people in total. The variety in the nature and type of business that operate from Wrexham Industrial Estate is enormous. There are big names on the estate such as Kellogg's, JCB Transmissions, Pirelli, Tetra Pak, Cytec and many more. Chester Business Park is also nearby and is less than fifteen minutes drive.

If you are visiting the estate and are considering a hotel, there are four locations which are geared up for corporate visitors. These are Carden Park Hotel (with golf course), Cross Lanes Hotel (part of the Best Western group), Llwyn Onn and the Holt Lodge. An important point to note is each of these are set in their own grounds with no surrounding facilities for several miles.

Manchester International Airport is less than one hour by car and Liverpool Airport is less than 50 minutes by car. The port of Holyhead can be reached in less than two hours and London City Centre is approximately three and a half-hours by car.
