Frequently asked questions

Here are some answers to frequently asked questions we receive.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1. How do I book a vehicle?
Click on Booking or Prices from the links above. All details on how to book are shown. All journeys must be booked in advance and paid by credit or debit card. Our payments are all handled by a secure booking page on the official Wales Tourist Board web site or Paypal.

2. How do I know you will arrive to collect me?
We are licensed under Wrexham County Borough Council and must conform to the conditions of our licence in order to trade as a private hire company. To find out more about Wrexham County Borough Council please see http://www.wrexham.gov.uk. Being licensed ensures you have a complaints procedure and that we have set guidelines to operate within.

3. What is Private Hire?
Private Hire is a passenger transport service where the vehicle MUST be booked prior to travelling with a licensed operator. A private hire vehicle and driver is not allowed to stop and collect a passenger by being hailed.

4. Why is Private Hire safer than a chauffeur?
A Private Hire company must conform to a strict code of conduct and is licensed in three ways:

i) The Operator of the company must be licensed. This involves a police disclosure check and proof of identification to the local regulating authority. The licence must be renewed every 12 months and must be issued before bookings can be taken.
ii) Each driver must be licensed. A Private Hire driver must undergo a police disclosure check, a group 2 medical examination and provide proof of identification. A driver will then be issued with a photocard licence issued by Wrexham County Borough Council with their own unique badge number.
iii) Every Private Hire vehicle must be licensed. A vehicle used for Private Hire must be presented for inspection every six months before a Council test station. This test is similar to an MOT but is more thorough and rigorous. The vehicle must also be insured for private hire use which includes public liability insurance. Once a vehicle has met the standards required it must carry identification plates with a unique licence number specific to that vehicle.

5. How do I contact you?

  • E-mail us at enquiries@bluestone.gb.com (we respond to all e-mail within 24 hours however, within UK office hours this is normally immediate)
  • Ring our Manager on +44 7769 890 447 from outside the UK and 07769 890 447 from inside the UK.
  • Write to us at Bluestone Cars, 20 Bellevue Road, Wrexham, Wrexham County Borough, LL13 7NH, North Wales, UK.
  • Please note you can also contact your driver directly. We always e-mail the drivers mobile phone number and picture to you before collection so you can keep in direct contact.

6. Where are your prices listed?
Click on the Prices link above and then select which type of journey you require. If the price is not listed as a standard journey simply fill in the enquiry form and have a quote emailed to you within 24-hours. Please note due to the nature of our business most journeys need individual quotations from a human so may take a little time.

7. What is your minimum price?
Our minimum charge is £60 UK sterling. This covers all administration, transaction charges and vehicle hire.

8. I can't see the journey I want to book.
For a non standard journey please use the Prices link above, use the drop down menu and fill in the relevant form. We will quote a price and availability for your journey by e-mail.

9. Will I incur extra charges at the airport if my flight is delayed?
NO. We do not charge you if your flight is delayed. We constantly monitor all airports using a number of methods to ensure efficient use of our vehicles. We also have vehicles "floating" should your new arrival time clash with one of our other bookings.

10. How will I find my driver?
From your flight number we know which terminal at the airport you will be arriving at. Your driver will be there waiting for you. Your driver will be easily identified by the Bluestone Cars meeting board and your name that they will be carrying. You will also receive a picture of your driver before you travel with us. If for some reason you should miss your driver you can call them directly on their mobile phone. Alternatively please proceed to the airport information desk and request a call for your driver over the loud speaker.

11. Can we squeeze 5 people in one car?
Our car's are licensed to carry four passengers only - exceeding this limit is illegal and dangerous. We have a Chrysler Grand Voyager for up to six passengers. If there are more passengers, please book extra vehicles.

12. Is paying on the Internet safe?
We consider payment through the Internet safer than a phone call as most companies simply have their telephone staff enter your details in to the web page for you. By removing the human element, your credit card security is increased. When entering your credit card details on the Internet always check that the web address changes from http:// to https:// - the S means you are connected to a secure server and your details cannot be seen by a third party. Never send your credit card details by E-mail as this cannot be guaranteed secure. Our payments are taken in conjunction with the official Wales Tourist Board or Paypal and we never gain access to your credit card numbers.

13. I'm not sure about your booking procedure - I don't trust computers!
Bluestone Cars will only complete a booking when we know we have availability of a vehicle for your desired journey. We will also contact you by e-mail to arrange a collection point and any other requirements you may have - this also allows you to tell us of any other preferences you have. If you prefer to give your details over the phone please use our call centre facility with Visitwales. More details on this can be found by following our Booking link.
